Market Mondays 3! Horror Movies

Yes, I know it's Tuesday, but I worked on Monday, so this is going up a day late.

Do any of you watch horror movies as much as I do? I finally got around to watching Cabin in the Woods today, and as I was watching it, I was thinking to myself how it would have been so much better if I could actually see what was going on. I realized that that's a problem with me with almost all scary movies. I know that they make them dark to set the scene and the mood, but does that really matter when you have to tell the store by texture? There was one scene where I literally only realized the character was dying because there was a shiny pool covering the screen slowly that I deciphered was supposed to be blood. Now, I know that if I reset setting on my television, close the blinds, and turn off all the lights, the picture will be more visible and such, but still. That seems silly to me to have to change everything around based on what genre movie I'm watching.
Does this problem pose itself to anyone other than me? No?

Market Mondays 2! Bathroom Drawer Organization Issues!

I'm a big advocate of meticulously organizing every shelf, cabinet, and drawer possible, but I have two drawers that I can not for the life of me get to the point where they're actually useful. My bathroom sink vanity has an undersink cabinet and two drawers, one shallow, one deep. I've filled and refilled these drawers over and over again, and it seems no matter how I organize or what I put in there, I am not using them to the best of their potential.

Right now the bottom drawer, the deeper of the two, is housing the majority of my hair tools collection. Over the years I've collected an insane amount of brushes, combs, straighteners, curlers, and even crimpers. I have my favorite straightener, favorite curler, and my pmd in a small box in the front half of the drawer, and the rest are just tossed haphazardly in the back. This has stayed this way for a while, and it works well enough, but I just don't love it. I kind of hate it actually, but since it seems to work okay, I haven't bothered with reorganizing it in a while.

The top shallow drawer, however, is currently the bane of my existence. I have an acrylic drawer divider that fits pretty perfectly in the front, but I have no idea what to put in this drawer! I have a very random assortment of Crest Whitestrips, chapsticks, shower caps, Clarisonic replacement heads, product samples, and so many other things just thrown in there with no rhyme or reason to it at all. It makes me crazy, because I would really like to have this be a useful storage area for things that I use on a regular basis.

How do you all fill and organize your bathroom sink vanity drawers? I clearly need help in this area, so please, send me ideas!

Market Mondays Intro!

I'm going to start a weekly entry called Market Mondays because I feel that I need to start some kind of schedule with this blog. I'm choosing the theme Market Mondays for the obvious reasons that I'm going to post these on Mondays from the market. I live above an assortment of worldly shops called the Global Market. Even though I've lived here for over half a year, I still haven't gotten around to calling someone to come set up internet in my unit, so I've been coming down to the market more often than not to use the internet here. I don't mind it, because I'll get a cup of coffee and a muffin, or depending on if it's later in the day, I'll get a salad and some fruit, then just sit and watch people wander around. The building is connected to a hospital, so there are a lot of doctors and nurses that will come over between 11 and 2 to get lunch, so I tend to avoid the market during these times, just because the noise level grows exponentially, and I find it harder and harder to concentrate as the mill around and pick their lunches.
Anyway, back to the idea of Market Mondays. I don't think these will have a content theme, I just thought it'd be good to give myself a goal of writing at least a post every Monday. Perhaps as this blog evolves I will give it a theme as to the content of every Monday's post, but for the time being, it's just to give myself something to strive for. Welcome to Market Mondays!

Apartment 707.

Welcome to my new blog, Apartment 707. This is a reinvention of my older blog, The Post High School Years, so the old posts will still be available, but I've moved on from that one. I sort of stopped posting, and abandoned it for a really long time, so it seems a little silly to try and revive it, Like I said, I'm leaving the old posts, but I'm changing the domain name just as soon as I can figure out how, and in a sense, starting over. I chose to leave the old posts because I don't see the point in deleting little stories from my past. I just look at it this way as starting a new chapter in my life. I'm going to be filling this blog with posts about the things that interest me most in life, and just to hazard a guess, it's going to be based largely in decor and organization projects. Ever since I moved into an apartment by myself, (no family, no roommates, no pets) I've realized that I've had a hidden passion for creating a home that is entirely my style, bright and welcoming. I've been obsessed with reading home decor blogs and magazines every morning while I eat my breakfast, and I thought "I could do this!" So here it is, the story of Apartment 707 and anything else that goes on here.

I'm Back!

Oh my goodness! It has been so long since I've posted anything on here. I moved to a new apartment in December, and I wasn't paying attention to any social media anything because I was so busy with moving, decorating, and organizing. At some point though, during the move, my computer got sick. I took it to the Apple store to see if there was (hopefully) some sort of quick fix, but alas, nope! The genius that was helping me brought out my opened computer to show me the damage that had happened. He tried to explain to me what had happened, but being me, I had not one single clue what he was telling me. I think though, the fan had somehow quit working, so it overheated and the battery melted. The saddest part of this though, is that when the battery melted, it leaked into the hard drive and I lost EVERYTHING! So sad. All my pictures, all my videos, all my music. At least though, I can import all my cds back into itunes.
He convinced me to buy an external hard drive to back up all my data on, just in case this happens again. I am now the proud owner of an unused Ultra Slim Portable Usb 3.0/2.0 G Drive. I have no idea how to use it, so if you can give me any tips, please do! It's just sitting in its box on the cabinet next to my desk.
One maybe good thing that came of being computer-less is the reincarnation of my youtube channel. I deleted a ton of the videos off of it, and I'm starting over! I've been doing here and there video blogs on my iphone, and just upload them through LTE. It was good enough to hold me over while my computer was MIA in the hands of the people at the genius bar.
Anyway, I'm back! I still haven't set up internet in my unit (yes, I have been here for three months…) so I don't know if I'll be posting frequently at all, but be sure to check out the video blogs if I've been neglecting this page. Good to talk to you all again!

Silent House

Lately Netflix has been taking away a lot of really good movies from their instant streaming program, but I just found one movie that was recently added that I haven't seen since it was just released in theaters. Silent House. The star is Elizabeth Olsen, Mary-Kate and Ashley's little sister. Until Silent House was released, I wasn't even aware there was another Olsen sister.
Anyway, I didn't really remember much about this movie from when it was in theaters, but I do remember being completely confused at the end. Did anyone else feel that way?
It's a beautifully filmed movie; entirely in one shot too. I think even though it made no sense to me, it's a wonderful movie that's definitely worth the time.
Also, this is how the theater was labeled. That's funny, right?

You're welcome. Happy thanksgiving, everyone!

Video of the Day

Here are some seven year old whores-in-training.
I absolutely love them.
I have to say though, I'm disappointed in the girl in yellow. She didn't really do anything.
Here's the original video of the song, if you're interested.
