Song of the EVER.

This song is my life. No freakin' joke. Love you, Dolly.

Happy birthday, Adam!

It's my cousin's eighth birthday today, and I'm making a mix tape for him. Currently I'm letting it run through to determine final order, and the songs I chose were such hilariously horrible karaoke-quality songs, that I am singing at the absolute top of my lungs, and I'm sure the neighbors hate me. I am a person that likes order, so naturally, all the songs are currently in alphabetical order of artist. Here's the master list:

Fernando                                                 ABBA
Total Eclipse Of The Heart              Bonnie Tyler
Pedal Power                                  Dance Band
Magic Dance                                   David Bowie
Heir Kommt Alex                          Die Toten Hosen
The Sacrifice                                    Dolly Parton
Rio                                                         Duran Duran
Stacy's Mom                                         Fountains of Wayne
You and I / You and I                       Glee Cast
Radar Love                                   Golden Earring
Alone                                                 Heart
What A Feeling                            Irene Cara
Change Africa                                         Jay-Z VS Toto
Backstabber                                   Ke$ha
Wavin' Flag                                   K'naan
Say Hey(I Love You)                  Michael Franti and Spearhead
The Way You Make Me Feel           Michael Jackson
Waka Waka (Time For Africa)               Shakira
Friday                                                 Stephen Colbert & Friends
Higher Love                                 Steve Winwood

See what I mean? I'm pretty sure this is exactly what an eight year old wants for his birthday. If he doesn't, I'll take it back and listen to it until the cd runs dry. Is that an expression? Or even possible?

So much work lately.

Since I've been working so much lately, I haven't had time at all to come here and write about what you probably wouldn't read anyway. Tonight, however, I do have some time to leave a quick update on what I've been up to since I got these jobs. My aunt got a new kitten who's name was Winston, but they decided to rename him Moe; which I think is dumb. Winston is so much cuter, especially when you pronounce it "Weenston".  Anyway, he's been stampeding all around the apartment tonight, tearing everything up. He just doesn't have an off button. I've got scratches and bite marks all over me from him attacking me tonight. He never stops moving. As I'm typing this right now, he's gallivanting around with a piece of wire. He's crazy.
He's 1.7 pounds.

Finally employed!

The hassle of trying to find a job lasted nearly three years, but I finally have one (or three?)! I'm not going to disclose the locations of them because I don't want people to come and pester me while I try to learn things. Only two are completely confirmed so far, but the other one is close in coming. The two I for sure have are out of the home, and at a coffee shop. The one I'm still waiting to hear confirmation of is a high-end restaurant, and I am just waiting for my fingerprint screening and drug testing results to go through. Since I've never done anything ever in my life, all of that will go through without a hitch, and I'll have the third job for sure.
The only bad thing in all of this is the lack of sleep I'll be getting for the next however long. I'm really not looking forward to figuring out how to schedule everything. I'll have to start work at the coffee shop at five in the morning, and at the steakhouse, I'll be working until either seven or nine, depending on the day. Then factor in travel time and a shoer every day, and I've got barely any time for sleep, much less my friends and family. Just think- after three years of begging for jobs, now I have three, and will never have time to go out and spend any of the money. Jeez!

Guess forgot her sleeping pills?

I'm staying at my aunt's apartment tonight, and forgot my sleeping pills (just melatonin based- nothing fancy) at home. I don't usually rely on them, but for some reason lately I've had major issues on falling asleep when I want to. I can never figure out when/why I have trouble sleeping; most people just blame it on my love for coffee and diet coke. However, I haven't had any caffeine of any sort in over 24 hours. I've been up since eight (which is about an hour or two later than usual, I admit) and worked out for a non-consecutive total of an hour and forty five minutes. I haven't eaten since after seven, and have only had water to drink today. This is really really odd. On days like this, when I just can't figure out why I'm not sleeping, really drive me crazy. Well, I guess I'm going to watch 30Rock until my eyes finally decide to dry out.

I really wish I was this kitten. I would love to be sleeping and fuzzy like that right now.

What should I have for dinner?

Day six of consecutive video workouts. The rehearsal dinner is tomorrow, then the wedding is Saturday. I really don't think I'll be fitting in the dress the way I had hoped. Well, perhaps I'll just be wearing my old rugby spandex underneath it, so I look sleeker.
The point of this is though, what the hell do I eat for dinner? I really feel that at some point I should go to a nutritionist to find out the things that are best for me to eat. For today though, I'm just going to grab something from down in the market. I really want a burrito from that one place by the butcher shop, but I've eaten burritos from there so often lately. It's definitely not healthy. They're SO good though!
Does anyone out there have any good nutritional tips that could benefit me in my long-term goals?

The week of preparing.

This weekend is my godfather's wedding, and I'm attending both the wedding and the rehearsal dinner. I'm sure there will be lots of pictures being taken, so I need to get ready. This week will be full of long distance running, Jillian workouts, and face masks. I have no idea what I will be wearing to the rehearsal dinner (what does one wear to a rehearsal dinner?) but my dress for the wedding is a beautiful dress by Adrianna Papell, and it sure is small. It hardly needs to be said that I really need to do some major sit-ups to make this look as good as it deserves.
It took me forever to find the exact dress online; apparently there were very few made in this raspberry color, most of the ones I found were just plain black. Anyway, if you're interested in this exact color dress, I found it here, otherwise there are very similar versions here and here.
Anyway, I have to get up very early tomorrow morning to go for a run (oh, did I mention I'm running a race in two weeks that I am so not prepared for??) so I think I may just leave it off here. Cheers to finding the perfect party dress!

Sleep issues.

So, lately, I've not been sleeping. It's currently 1.32 am, and I'm dying to sleep. On the upside, my dear old tried and true football team, the Packers, won their first game of the season! Great match against the Saints, fellas. I've been watching football for over a decade, and being from the capitol of the cheese state, the Packers are my sports holy grail. It was a great day when I finally got to see them win the Superbowl, and seeing their next league game go just as well, well. It was awesome. Simply peachy. Continuing on, I am still not confident in my ability to pass my test at school, so I'm just putting it off even more. However: anyone who wishes to study with me- PLEASE let me know!!
IIIIIIIIIIIIIII NEEEEEEEEEEEEEED A JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOB.
Ugh. Balls. I really need a job. Also some sleep. Perhaps this is why I can't learn my flashcards- I'm too sleep deprived? Probably not, I'm just not good at memorization.
Is anyone else as excited for Whitney Cummings' new sitcom? I love her, and she totally hasn't been in enough stuff... Until two weeks from now! I can't wait!

kglnaekrgh;caw

So many things on my mind, not enough energy to type it all out. I bet I'll spend another hour and a half trying to fall asleep. I think it's time to try those sleeping pills. Well, 'til next time.

Approximated time. This is what I wrote on the plane.

2.10 AM. Waking up an hour before my alarm (Africa, by Toto) goes off because my cousin Adam had to pee, and is not at all a quiet person. I tried to get back to sleep, but of course, can not. I perused facebook for a while before neurotically dumping out my entire suitcase an repacking it again to check that I had not forgotten anything. For the eighth time.
4.05 AM. Approximately. Franz and I leave the house to walk to the lightrail. Being the end of August, the street is pitch black, which leads to an interesting story about a man throwing a baby carseat at Franz one morning as he walked to work.
4.18 AM. Franz and I get on the lightrail to the airport. We trek my stuff through the airport; up escalators and on trams, until we get to my gate. E9.
5.06 AM. I search for coffee and postcard stamps. I only find one. I had this, lets see, Vanilla White Chocolate Mocha cooler. Jeez. SO sugary. I think I got energy just from the sugar, not the caffeine. Sitting in this tiny, tiny airplane, I’m regretting my drink choice.
5.42 AM. The plane starts boarding. Since I’m flying on one of those “extra seat” ticket things, I had to wait until everybody else had gotten on the plane. I’m in seat 19C. I’m the very last seat on the plane, right in between the lavatory and the big whirly thing that ate that guy on the beach in LOST. I do, however, have a great view out the window.
5.57 AM. Franz knocks on the side of the plane. I was reading my book (Bossypants- Tina Fey) and hear this bang bang bang on the side of the plane. I, of course, jump up (well, try to anyway. It’s difficult to jump out of your seat when you’re already wearing your seat belt.) and look out the window. Franz was standing there in a neon orange vest, grinning hugely and waving. I waved back, but I think the guy in the seat next to me thought I was crazy. Oh, by the way, guy in seat next to me: if you’re reading this over my shoulder, that’s totally fine. I get it. I would too, if you were typing on your computer.
6.02 AM. The plane starts to back away from the airport and turn down the runway. It seemed a little odd how long it took us to get from the airport to actually taking off, but I guess we were just towards the end of the first wave of planes taking off this morning. Takeoff was actually really pleasant. The sun was just rising, so I got to see lots of light blues, pinks and oranges in the sky. As we got higher in the air (I was surprised at how quickly it happened- then I was surprised at how long we were diagonal in the air) I watched the streets, schools, playgrounds (did you know there’s a parking lot on the roof of the Mall of America?) swimming pools, baseball fields, and so much more get smaller and smaller, and thought to myself “Self, isn’t it crazy how people can make such straight lines so straight for so long?” Really, it’s pretty crazy. You think it’d waver after a few blocks, but no. Those roads just keep going stick straight for miles.
6.58 AM. Guy across the isle pulls his phone out to listen to music. I decide it’s okay to pull out my computer. I start typing this. At the moment, it’s just in a word document on my computer because, you know, you’re not supposed to use the internet in the sky (why is that? Is it specially reserved for God or something? Jeez God, can’t you just share?) By the time you read this though, I’ll obviously have landed and found some internet to upload this to the interwebs.
7.20 AM thoughts: “These clouds are very nice to me and the people on this side of the plane. They’re making such lovely patterns and swirls and stuff. That’s nice of them.” And “Geez, this stream of people coming in and out of the bathroom is never ending. Really. It’s like the second someone leaves the bathroom, someone else is pushing past them in the isle to get in. I really wish I wasn’t right next to it. This is going to get really annoying in the next two and a half hours.” “I could do this. Flying a plane doesn’t seem that tough” “I wish I’d thought to take my headphones out of my bag before I pulled this tray down. Now I’m going to have to navigate around this guy’s knee and try to not wake him up.”
8.04 AM. We hit turbulence. Really short. But still. Turbulence.

Almost there...

It's 2.50 Am. Franz and I are leaving for the airport at 4 Am, so I thought I'd sleep until about 3.15, shower, get dressed, make sure I have everything packed, and be on my way. WELL. Adam is staying with mom while Emily and I are in NY, so he's here. He got up to pee at 2.10, and I've been up ever since. That kid's as quiet as a gun. I guess I could be using this time to be doing the things I was planning to do at 3, but for some reason, I just can't turn on the light. Mornings are really rough for me, and this is a really early morning. Lately, if you don't already know, I've had lots of trouble falling asleep, and by this time usually, I'm still trying to fall asleep, not wake up.
Today is the day that a lot of people start school. I'm relieved that I don't, because I absolutely hated school, but I also feel like a loser for not going to college with everyone else. I mean, I will be going to college, but I'm taking a year off, because I plan on being in college for a really, really long time, to get an advanced degree in medicine. Either way though, I'm glad I don't start today.
I suppose I really should be doing something to get ready. We leave for the airport in an hour.

Almost ready!

I'm filming a mini-series on what I'm bringing in my carry on luggage! I leave in approximately one day, seventeen hours, fifty seven minutes and thirty seconds. I just filmed my luggage part of the travel series, and now I'm about to film the "what's in my personal carry on" video. In case you don't know, my youtube username is pancakesaresocool, all one word. The videos should appear at the top of this page, but then again, I am awful at technology, and may have butchered the codes. I hope to do a "follow me around" series when I am there as well, but you may know, I am forgetful, and that is a lot of work. Just letting you know what's up! Next time I see you, I'll probably be in New York!

Wednesday, August 17, 2011

Less than a week!

Well, it's official! Less than a week and I'll be in New York, the city that never sleeps! (How perfect for me lately. Yes, I still can't sleep) I have an open-ended ticket, so I still haven't decided when I'll leave. I'm thinking that I might leave either Saturday or Sunday so that I can spend a day or two in Jersey with these Couchsurfers that just stayed with me. Emily is driving out (she can't fly) and our hotel is booked Monday through Saturday. We're meeting a friend, Jonas, there and he'll probably stay with us for a few days. He's lived in New York before, so he knows the city really well. I can't wait!
On another note, I'm so close to finishing school, but now the memorizing factor is really really setting in. I'm not ready to take the final test. Maybe I'll just wait to take the test until I get back from vacation, that way I can study on the plane and the car ride back. (we're driving home so we can go to Niagara Falls.)

UGHHH. Decisions. They SO do not bode well with me. Ah well, here's to another day less left to pack.

Norb!

I have a new pet. His name is Norb (as in Norbert) and he is a hedgehog. I adopted him from a friend's daughter who had adopted him from a neglectful frat house in hopes of taking him along to college. I ended up with him because she wasn't able to bring him with her. I absolutely love him, but the feeling is so not mutual. He wasn't socialized, and it's very important to socialize them when they're young. Today I took him out of his cage, and he threw a literal hissy fit, then pooped on my couch. Thank god it's vinyl.
Anyway, if any of you know how to get an unfriendly hedgehog to like you, please let me know!

Oh my god, you guys.

So, every once in a while I look at Tumblr still. I deactivated my account, so I have nowhere to share this little gem. Except for here! So here you go. I apologize in advance.

Organization.

Let me start by saying I do not have a small room. My room is a good sized room for a teenager. I have a double bed, a full dresser set, a footlocker and a sewing machine in my room, plus some. I've gotten to the point where I have a definitive style, and therefore, I only own clothes that fit that style, which means I wear them all. This poses the biggest problem because I wear all of my clothes and shoes on a regular basis, but I can not seem to find a place to put all of them. Does anyone out there have a method that works particularly well for them? I would really appreciate it if you could leave a comment or shoot me an email that helps me fix this problem of mine!

Thursday, July 14, 2011

Jeez, I sure am a lazy goose.

Or something like that...

Well, last night I had an early birthday celebration. It was really nice. There was tasty food, and friends I've had for a very long time.
Today I'm continuing the long task of packing up everything, and soon Nader is coming over to help me put together an outfit for the Midnight to Dawn bike ride. (Don't worry- I'll get there)
Tonight (or perhaps tomorrow morning) I'm seeing the very last Harry Potter movie ever! I can't wait, but it's going to be the saddest thing ever! I've been reading Harry Potter since I was four and a half. This is going to suck. That's almost fourteen years there that I've been a Harry Potter addict. This really sucks.
On a better note, Friday evening I'm volunteering for Planned Parenthood at the Highland Fest. Then on Saturday: Midnight to Dawn bike ride! It's a fundraiser for something, I don't know, and is literally from midnight to dawn. I'm wearing a tiny terrycloth jumpsuit. Unless, of course, I can talk my mom into wearing some twin jumpsuits that look like they'd rather be someone's great-grandma's davenport.
I'm exhausted, toodles!

BIG DAY TODAY.

You're really just going to have to wait for the pictures though. It was too long and hot today, and I am too tired to describe it all. Just know that it was great. Here's one picture that sort of sums up the end of the day.

Madison!

Well, my family and I made it safely (albeit a bit sick of each other) to Madison a few hours ago. Since then, we have eaten Pizza Pit pizzas, m&m's, and played celebrity Taboo; which we all suck at. Adam, thankfully, went to sleep in not too long of a time. Oh, Betty Ford died too. Not Betty White.
Tomorrow we're headed downtown to see the art fair that has taken the Farmer's Market away from my favorite state capitol. Not sure what else we're doing, but we'd better go to Pasqual's and Michael's. The best food ever! One right after the other, of course.
I'd post some of the pictures from the trip up here, but Oma has the cord in her room and I have the camera in this one. Perhaps tomorrow, if I can figure out how to make this internet go for more than 24 hours. I'm excited to go around the city tomorrow to go play at all my favorite places.
Oh! It's my aunt's birthday today! She's awesome.
Hours in the car. That was my day.

Wednesday, July 6, 2011

OHMYGOD.

I HAVE APPLIED TO SO MANY PLACES THAT MY OWN NAME LOOKS LIKE IT'S SPELLED WRONG. I HATE LIFE.

I AM JOB.

Monday, July 4, 2011

Bonjour!

I've been gone now for two weeks at my glorious french camp! I love it so much; and really hope that I can work there next year. Basically, we hang out for a week at base camp (learning how to vivre dans le foret) which is pretty much just eh. Then we head to LE PAYS DANS HAUT! Haut haut. That's the part that I live for. A week on le frontier Canadien; canoeing, singing, laughing and best of all, sleeping. This year (my seventh) I was finally in DahVeed's brigade, which was amazing. He tells these amazing stories about his life and the crazy shit that happens to him when he's traveling. I think he needs to write a memoir.
Anyway, I'm home and exhausted. There was a 3rd of July party here last night, and CouchSurfing parties are usually only fun if you're wasted, so I spent much of it in my room.
I hope to have MANY more pictures of camp soon, but for now, there's just this one. It's what happens to your feet when you wear keens for two weeks in the sun.

Song of the Day

I'm having one of these days right now. Unfortunately though, I can't act on it because I need to pack for Voy and clean up around here. Well, this video will have to do!

Sorry I've been gone!

I've been getting ready for a vacation and cleaning my room. I'm off to the computer doctor now, so I may not post again. Whoops!

Song of the Day

Hero.

Video of the Day

In my opinion, Shakeweights got old WAY too fast. Come on, this is endless amusement people! Not only for the people watching the shakeweight user even, because the shakeweight has mirrors on either end of it, so you can watch yourself... Shakeweighting. THIS IS ONE CLASSY WORKOUT, YO.

Also, I posted a video of this guy before. He was a Song of the Day post- Born This Way. He's awesome.

Summer Dance.

For those of you who live in the Twin Cities and like dancing, here's something I was just sent!
http://www.ordway.org/summerdance/
It sounds super fun! I really want to go to it, so if any of you are interested, come join me!!

Video of the Day

This is pretty cool.

Monday, June 13, 2011

Bye. I'm going out.

Screw Americorps.

Song of the Day

WHOA. Someone actually took the time to not only count all of the speaking black characters on Friends, but also wrote a rhyming song about them. If that's not deserving of the song of the day, I don't know what is. The beginning and end are a bit slow, but the song itself is pretty nifty, and WILL get stuck in your head.

Video of the Day

Today's video is an advertisment for Air New Zealand- the absolute best in Airline commercials! Now, turn your volume all the way up, get off your lazy ass and dance along with this ad!

Video of the Day

Again, a music video undeserving of the title for Song of the Day has been given the glory of video of the day. Katy Perry graciously (stupidly) extends Rebecca Black's fifteen minutes in this ridiculous video.

Child Meltdown.

I just had to witness a seven year old have a total meltdown. I swear, I am never having children.

IN OTHER NEWS.
We went to Cafe Aster for Oma's birthday. Patty and the Buttons were wonderful, as always. I've got a bunch of great new swing music thanks to Joe, so I can't wait to get back out there tomorrow! I just need to find a guy who's really good at leading, because I'm sick of leading all my girlfriends when we go. I want to be the one whirling around out there!

CouchFest Tour Day!

Today Dawn and I are doing a walking tour of the St Paul Cathedral and State Capitol. Lucky we got nice weather again!

If we have time, we'll finish by walking down the fantastic Summit Avenue!

Friday, June 10, 2011

Song of the Day

I'm not giving you the actual music video for this because it was stupid as all hell. This one is of some ballsy motherfucker. I love it!!

Yay!

I got a new computer AND it's CouchFest!
I'm busy this weekend.
That is all.

Song of the Day

I can't believe I didn't pick this for my first one! This is totally the best song ever.

Oh, also, I like this version too. It really is just the best song ever.

Video (s) of the Day

Today there were two that I just couldn't pick between... They had similar themes, so you get both of them!!

Meanwhile, In Canada...

Guess what:?

Yes, we're having yet another band stay with us this week. Again, seven piece. It's not Young Republic this time, but they're just as cool. Here's a taste...

Song of the Day

While this is not an official music video for this song, I really love the acoustic version, so that's what I'm giving you. Someone sent me a copy of this song when I was going through a rough time in my life, and it embodied perfectly what I needed to do. I bought her album, and I promise you- you will be seeing much more of her on this blog. So, here it is, Lights.

Video of the Day

Well, turns out. I feel like posting more than one video a day. Today happens to be a music video, it's not a song of the Day. Keep them straight. Here it is:
I'm not a huge fan of this song, but the video was close to heartbreaking. I guess I could say it sends a good message.

Sorry I've been gone.

This weekend has been a long one. Here's two pictures for you.

 State tournament Saturday.
Grad party with Patty and the Buttons.

Yinghua Performance

My seven year old cousin Adam goes to a Chinese immersion school in Northeast called Yinghua Academy. Today they had their end of the year performance. They had a slideshow, then sang a song, then screamed shrilly at the top of their lungs.
This is his first grade class while they were singing. It had some "sign language" thing that went with it.

This one's Adam. He looks like Lady Gaga here.

Then I bought a teeny tiny water bottle.

Song of the Day

Can you guess?

Come on, don't tell me you didn't see this coming!!

What I Do on the Sidelines...

With a team as big as mine, there isn't much playing time for me; especially as there are a bunch of people who play the same position as me. These are some pictures of me on the side of last Wednesday's game.
This one is actually from the pep-talk type thing before the game.

I got thirsty.. When I forget my own water, I steal from the team.

I almost spat the water out like a fountain.

I think this is the best hairstyle for me, agree?

Shopping Adventures.

I was just cleaning out my email inbox, and found one chock full of pictures when I went prom dress shopping with the ladies. Only one of our number found a dress on that trip, but here's some evidence of our shopping adventure!

Graduation Day.

Well, it was graduation day for me and my fellow classmates at South High. I took a page from much of my senior year and skipped it. It looked like people had fun though. Congrats, seniors!!
Two of my close friends (Who I've been in school with for all twelve years) are having a slumber party in honor of the day. I'm pretty sad to be missing it, but I've got my long standing plans which totally make up for it. At least next week we're having another to include our other friend (who's still a junior) on her last day of school. Cheers for slumber parties! Or rather, pajama parties, as there is never slumbering happening.

Song of the Day!

This is hands-down my favorite local band. They've finally started playing shows again too! Can't wait to see them again!

Turn up the volume and SHAKE YOUR BABYMAKER.

Sugar cookies!

My cousin Jennifer is bringing her daughters Zara and Milla over to my house today to bake sugar cookies for my grad party on Sunday. I'm so excited- they're just the cutest! Apparently Zara's been wanting to bake with me for a while, so this'll be fun for both of us! I just hope that they don't mind that I didn't buy/make any frosting. I did, however, get some pastel colored sugars to put on top, I bet they'll like those.

Good Morning, Minneapolis.

Well, it may not be Saturday, but it sure feels like one. Overall, I just feel off today. I hope I can straighten myself out before three today, because my cousin, Jennifer is bringing her girls over to bake cookies! Zara and Milla are so cute and so fun, I can't wait! That being said, I'm short half a cup of sugar. Anyone in the Cooper neighborhoood have any sugar for me that I can swing by and get?
Today is the graduation ceremony for my school. but I'm not going. I went last year, and it was so long and horrible. I hope my family isn't mad at me that I'm not going, but hey, who really cares? I'll just borrow a cap and gown from one of my friends and let someone take a picture of me in it.
I suppose I should be off now to go find another half cup of sugar. Have a good Thursday everybody- I hope your days are making more sense than mine is!
I'll leave you with the link to the pictures of last night's playoffs.

Playoffs

Well, we lost. That means that we don't play on Sunday. Also that we can't win State. I don't have a picture for you.

Have Free Time?

If you've got an hour and forty five minutes and are a huge fan of red corn syrup and self-humor, check this out!

Sorry I can't embed it directly- it's unsearchable, so it wouldn't load on here. Also, feel free to check out the blog I found it on. It's great!

Kitten Wednesday.

Since Wednesdays are typically the worst day of the week for most people, it doesn't take much work to decide that everybody deserves a pick-me-up by the middle of the week. So here, I give you: KITTEN WEDNESDAY.

Song of the Day

I suppose I should have some regularity in these posts, so every day (that I can) I will post a video or link to my favorite song of the day. Or, just whatever has been stuck in my head all day.
I can't wait until Friday!!

This song has been in my head since the first time it came on the radio when I was in the shower. The second I dried off, I ran to the computer and watched this video at least a dozen times in a row. I was literally speechless. I still can not find the words that I need to describe the way this song and video make me feel. To use an overworked and cliché: It spoke to me. Every word, every vocal infliction, every movement in the video are so perfectly executed that it was without a doubt the first song I feature here.

Summer Events!

451 hours until I go to French camp

1184 hours until I turn 18

1954 hours until I go to New York

So this is how I feel....

End of the Rugby Season

Today are the playoffs for my rugby team. I play for the South Women's Rugby Metro Club. We have two great coaches, and a psychotic trainer who played on the team herself just two years ago! We made it through the season with less than a handful of major injuries, surviving with most of our players still intact. Tonight we're playing Orono; then this Saturday is the state tourney. Next week we have a game scheduled (with us playing against ourselves!) where we all play in bright, obnoxious, shiny and wild prom dresses!
I'm in the middle with the pigtails and the blue dress.
If you live in the Twin Cities and are free next Tuesday afternoon, by all means, come see us play! It's at Sibley Field, which is somewhere around 39th st and 21st ave. If you've got a facebook, here's the event page: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/event.php?eid=119274548158841
Anyway, Playoffs today, State Saturday, Prom Dress Tuesday! I've got a week left of rugby, and it's going to be a great one!
That's me in the scrumcap, holding the ball in a maul.

Hello Readers!

This is my fifth day out of high school, and let me just say- I am loving it! As it got down to the last few weeks of school, I found myself insanely overbooked, bringing on the stress. I wouldn't get home until at least six every day. I had rugby practice and a game a week, I was directing a play, find a job, I had to figure out a way to pass all my classes and get the required community service hours to graduate with a Liberal Arts degree. I couldn't sleep, I rarely had time to sit down and have a sensible meal, and my social life deteriorated. This past weekend was the first weekend out of school, and the best (and by far the most noticeable) thing that happened was I finally remembered how to sleep! I am more rested today than I have been in the past two months.
The only negative thing that has happened since school ended is my sudden lack of things to do. All of a sudden I have all this free time on my hands, and there are only so many episodes of L.A. Ink on Netflix.Granted, rugby season doesn't end until next week, and I've still got my weekly swing dancing excursion, but I've still got hours upon hours of free time when I was sitting in a tiny little uncomfortable desk for nearly half a day. That's why I've started this blog. I hope it will give me an outlet to keep thinking, as well as maybe eat up some time out of each day. Maybe, as a bonus, I'll get regular reader that enjoy what I post!
Since this is a personal blog, I'll leave you with my senior picture, so you know who I am.
